One Blue September
"Blue"

Mustang/Quarter Horse

horse
One Bue September, affectionately called “Blue,” arrived at NarroWay on September 25, 2012. Just two weeks later he would be on stage for the most intense show NarroWay performs, “Lord of Light.” With fire, swords, loud noises and low light, Blue didn’t know what he was walking in to…. But God did! God miraculously provided this special horse for NarroWay, just in the nick of time. Blue is a testimony to God’s provision. The horse we had always performed with in “Lord of Light” had aged and was unable to travel. In a frantic search we were told of a horse trader who had a white horse. When we arrived, we found that his horse was more pink than white and was already sold. The trader had just returned from a trip to Florida where he purchased a show horse for a man in Ohio. He told us that to purchase this horse, the seller also required that he buy another horse neither of them wanted. “I’m getting ready to take them both to Ohio. Let’s go look at the horse I didn’t want.” The moment we saw him, we knew he was a gift from God. He was spirited with his white mane blowing in the wind. As he tossed his head, we saw that he had one brown eye and one blue. The trader sold him at a discounted price because “no one wanted him.” We named him “One Blue September” and brought him home. With much work, he was on stage in front of an audience in less than two weeks. And the rest is history! The horse no one wanted is now the star of the NarroWay stage! Blue is half mustang and half quarter horse. His coat is flea bitten grey - white with grey speckles throughout. It’s easy to see why he got his name – he has one brown eye and one blue eye! He is currently 23 years old. We initially worked to ride him on stage, but when ridden, Blue has only one speed – fast! So, we lead him instead. He wears special boots on stage for stability. While he is sweet and gentle, Blue is very selective about his companions and takes a while to warm up to most people. If you offer a peppermint treat though, he warms up real quick! Blue rules the NarroWay barn. It is an unspoken language among the herd members. All the animals (including Solomon) bow to his lead. His best buddy is Knight the goat. You’ll often see this unlikely pair just hanging out together in their free time. You’ll see Blue on stage in many NarroWay shows, but his most prominent role is the great white horse who accompanies Jesus in “Lord of Light.”
