How Your Sponsorship Affects Solomon
-
FoodSolomon is given a small portion of grain and lots of hay every day. In addition to the hay he shares with his buddies, Solomon also gets other hay varieties to supplement his specific vitamin needs.
-
BeddingSolomon's stall is padded with stall mats and filled with a thin layer of fine shavings for easy clean up.
-
Minerals and SaltAll our 4-legged stars have loose salt available. But Solomon needs certain minerals others in the herd do not need. So, his food is topped with a mineral supplement to make sure he gets selenium, calcium and other necessary minerals.
-
ProbioticsTwice each day Solomon gets a probiotic specifically engineered for camels to insure his unique digestive system functions as it should.
-
Parasite ControlInternal parasites are the #1 killer of camels. We make sure that Solomon is regularly tested and receives any treatment he needs to control whip worms and other threats.
-
Fly ControlFlies are more than a nuisance. They can pose serious health risks. In addition to our aggressive cleaning practices, we treat the entire animal housing area and pasture with fly predators. We use fly sprays on individual animals as needed. Solomon also has his own set of fly boots to keep flies from biting his legs.
-
Veterinarian CareSolomon loves his vet! He receives regular care with an annual exam and stays up-to-date on shots. Of course, he also gets emergency care when needed.
-
Costumes & PropsEvery star needs props, and Solomon is no exception! On stage he wears gorgeous blankets with all kinds of accessories. He also wears a spider - a leather apparatus custom made for camels - where various items can be attached for hauling. As he continues to grow, we will continue to up-fit his costumes and props.
-
TreatsWhat's life without a treat every now and then? Carrots and apples make Solomon smile!
